At the heart of this mission is a commitment to innovative cancer prevention strategies. “Cancel Cancer” is more than just a health hackathon—it’s a movement, a chance to bring together research curiosity, data-driven insights, and ground-breaking technological solutions to change how we prevent cancer. In Lithuania, where fragmented health policies still challenge prevention efforts, this hackathon aims to create a unified approach that could transform cancer care.

Announcing the “Hospiton 2024: Cancel Cancer” Initiative

Mark your calendars for November 22-24 as the 5th annual “Hospiton” is launched, a health-focused hackathon set to revolutionize cancer prevention and patient care. This year, one of the key tracks will be dedicated to enhancing the patient journey in colorectal cancer (CRC) care. The goal is to innovate in areas such as patient comfort, understanding, and support, with a focus on making the cancer journey easier and more effective for patients.

This Special Track, powered by ONCOSCREEN, will encourage participants to work on disruptive solutions for colorectal cancer prevention and early screening. The ONCOSCREEN Special Track focuses specifically on developing innovative, scalable digital tools that encourage healthier dietary and lifestyle choices, directly addressing the prevention of colorectal cancer. This challenge is part of the ONCOSCREEN initiative—a pan-European collaboration driving open innovation in CRC care and prevention.

Special Track Highlights: ONCOSCREEN Initiative

Lithuania offers fully funded screening programs for breast, cervical, colorectal, and prostate cancers, yet, participation rates, particularly among high-risk and underserved populations, remains low. The ONCOSCREEN Special Track will challenge participants to rethink and disrupt cancer screening processes to boost engagement and participation in them. This track invites radical, scalable digital interventions that engage communities and individuals in CRC prevention, leveraging real-time data and innovative outreach methods to overcome hesitancy and barriers to screening.

By joining this track, you can be part of the ONCOSCREEN Living Lab, an open innovation ecosystem where researchers, healthcare providers, and patients come together to create practical solutions for CRC prevention.
