Brief Biography of Partner
The Medical Academy of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) was founded in 1919. Today, the university and its clinical centre are leading institutions in the health sciences in the region. In the ONCOSCREEN project, the university is represented by the Department of Gastroenterology and the Institute for Digestive Research, which perform high-quality clinical and fundamental research in such fields as gastrointestinal oncology, inflammatory bowel diseases, and microbiome. LSMU has successfully participated in several European Union’s funded projects, such as TOGAS, AIDA, miGut-Health.
Partner’s Role in ONCOSCREEN
LSMU is involved in the ONCOSCREEN clinical trials as one of the clinical centres and will actively contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of the clinical trials. LSMU is also responsible for the health technology assessments of the trials with support from all technical and medial partners. Furthermore, LSMU leads activities that will shape the living guidelines and clinical recommendations for colorectal cancer screening programmes. In addition, LSMU will contribute to the creation of the ONCOSCREEN Living Lab, which will integrate gender-based innovations.
