Europacolon Portugal
PORTO – PORTUGAL
Brief Biography of Partner
Europacolon Portugal – Digestive Cancer Patients Support (ECPT) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2006. It has more than 1.400 members, including members of its social bodies in the scientific, academic, political, business fields. The incidence of colorectal cancer in Portugal is over 10.000 cases per year, with a mortality rate above 4.200 people. The high incidence of these diseases and the permanent lack of a national health policy focused on prevention, screening and early diagnosis justifies the need for an NGO dedicated to this issue of public health.
Partner’s Role in ONCOSCREEN
With expertise in stakeholder engagement, communication and dissemination activities, ECPT will be instrumental in increasing the impact and potential of proposed ONCOSCREEN technologies and methodologies and training end users. ECPT will provide its support and knowledge in the task related to health economics. Furthermore it will contribute to designing citizen awareness campaigns for colorectal cancer screening programmes, supporting efforts in increasing participation and knowledge of citizens about colorectal cancer.
