Brief Biography of Partner
Universität zu Lübeck (UzL) is a modern university with an academic focus on life sciences, computing, and biomedical engineering, offering 21 Bachelor and Master programs to more than 5,000 students. The research areas include Infection and Inflammation, Brain Behaviour and Metabolism, and Biomedical Engineering, supplemented by Medical Genetics, Translational Oncology, Population Medicine, Health Service Research, and Cultural Studies. UzL research programs are characterized by interdisciplinarity between medicine, informatics, and biomedical innovation, leading to successful scientific activities covering basic research and its translation for therapeutic and technological purposes. UzL`s scientific strategy benefits from an environment that integrates clinical and industrial partners as well as its own departments into one campus concept. Its third-party funding consists of national and international programmes, contributing to sustainable growth of industrial partnerships and international collaborations
Partner’s Role in ONCOSCREEN
The UzL research team participating in the ONCOSCREEN project is led by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Günther, who is Director of the Institute of Chemistry and Metabolomics at UzL. He specialises in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) metabolomics and metabolic fluxes including the development of new software and methodologies in this context. UzL’s main contribution is envisioned in metabolomics of blood samples and the colorectal cancer biomarker development.
